It’s been quite some time since I’ve written anything for the home page. Hey! Did you miss me?
I thought so. We have been busy forging a partnership with an agency that we believe will be a good thing for everyone involved.
Options for Families and Youth (OFY) has decided to transition the administration, management and supervision of our counseling/therapy services (better known as Behavioral Health Services) to Pathway Caring for Children (Pathway CFC).
Pathway CFC has been in existence since 1973 and is very similar to OFY. They provide services to children and families through mental health assessments, counseling/therapy, foster care and adoption. While they are primarily based in Stark County, they have a presence in the Cuyahoga County area that they were interested in building upon and strengthening.
So, I began to talk to their Executive Director, Wendy Tracy, about a ‘win-win-win’ type of partnership that is good for OFY, Pathway CFC and those people we serve through our Behavioral Health Unit. Pathway CFC has the expertise and experience to handle the coming challenges and changes in the Behavioral Health field in 2017 and beyond.
Pathway CFC hired the therapists formerly employed by OFY and will work out of the same westside location at 5131 West 140th Street in Brook Park. Those receiving services in Behavioral Health will work with their same counselor/therapist and they will still come to the same place…even the same office; in the same building. In the field we call this a ‘seamless’ transition as the service does not get interrupted. The changeover took place on August 1, 2016.
We are excited about this change and have a great deal of confidence that the extensive experience Pathway CFC has will continue providing quality Behavioral Health services to the children, adolescents and adults of Cuyahoga County.
